Councilmember Brewer introduced in writing, and moved for the adoption of
the following resolution, a resolution that certain items are declared surplus and the
Mayor and City Treasurer are authorized and directed to dispose of personal property
owned by the City of Fairhope by receiving bids and being sold to the highest bidqer.
Seconded by Councilmember Boone, motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
RESOLUTION NO. 2097-13
WHEREAS, the City of Fairhope, Alabama, has certain items of personal property
which are no longer needed for public or municipal purposes; and
WHEREAS, Section 11-43-56 of the Code of Alabama of 1975 authorizes the
municipal governing body to dispose of unneeded personal property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the following personal property owned by the City of Fairhope,
Alabama, is not needed for public or municipal purposes, and hereby declared
surplus:

SECTION 2. That the Mayor and City Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed
to dispose of the personal property owned by the City of Fairhope, Alabama,
described in Section 1, above, by receiving bids for such property. All such property
shall be sold to the highest bidder, provided, however, that the City Council shall
have the authority to reject all bids when, in its opinion, it deems the bids to be less
than adequate consideration for the personal property.

RESOLUTION NO. 2099-13
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN FY 2013 TRANSPORTATION
ALTERNA TIVES PROGRAM GRANT TO THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT
SIDEWALK AND TRAIL FACILITIES FOR PEDESTRIANS
WHEREAS, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is accepting
applications from municipal governments for FY 2013 Transportation Alternatives
Program (TAP) Grants; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairhope has identified the need to provide new sidewalk and
trail facilities to provide safe routes to non-drivers along US Route 98/State Route 42
linking to State Route 104 and Section Street; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost is estimated at $550,850, and if funded, the grant
will pay 80% or $400,000 and the City of Fairhope will be responsible for providing
20% or $150,850; and
WHEREAS, if funded, the City will be responsible for paying 100% of engineering
design fees, estimated at $83,000;
WHEREAS, if funded, the City will see this project through to completion and will
be responsible for providing long-term maintenance of the new facilities;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City of Fairhope, IN REGULAR
SESSION ASSEMBLED, that by this Resolution the City of Fairhope authorizes
submission of a TAP Grant to ALDOT requesting funds to construct new pedestrian
facilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign all
required grant application documents on behalf of the City.
