HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-25-2016 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 25 July 2016. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Rich Mueller and Keyin Boone, Mayor Timothy M. Kant, Attorney Marcus McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmembers: Diana Brewer and Michael A. Ford, and City Attorney Marion E. Wynne were absent. There being a quorum present, Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The inyocation was giyen by Lead Pastor Johnny Hunt of Celebration Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Council President Burrell paid tribute to the Fairhope National Ozone Rookie team who won the State Championship in Oxford Alabama. He asked for Head Coach Brad Conway, Coach Brad Hatcher, and Coach Bryan Moseley to come up front with the team. The team members in attendance were Jacob Conway, Jackson Hatcher, Ben Moseley, Brooks Brasfield, Landon Phipps, John Wesley Noble, Maddox Dayis, Briggs Acton, Kenny Yeend, DJ Flarris, Ashton Maloney, and Chris Garrett. Councilmember Boone moyed to approye minutes of the 11 July 2016, regular meeting; minutes of the 11 July 2016, work session; and minutes of the 11 July 2016, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Mueller, motion passed unanimously by yoice yote. Council President Burrell stated there was a need to add on an agenda item after Agenda Item Number 17: a Resolution that Resolutions No. 2559-16 and No. 2560-16 be and are hereby rescinded; relating to the Fly Creek Marina Improyements (Bid No. 024-16 and PS012-16). Councilmember Boone moyed to add on the aboye mentioned item not on the printed agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Mueller. Attorney McDowell read the proposed resolution to be added to the agenda. After further discussion, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Kant addressed the City Council regarding the following items: 1. Chief Petties to come foi'ward. Chief Petties announced the Back to School Picnic which will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fairhope Rotary Youth Club. He said there will be a dunking booth and invited the City Council and Mayor to participate.
