HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-11-2016 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope. met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 11 July 2016. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Rich Mueller, Diana Brewer, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Timothy M. Kant, City Attorney Marion E. Wynne, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmeniber Michael A. Ford was absent. There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Rick Malugani, Pastor of Fairhope Christian Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Brewer moved to approve minutes of the 27 June 2016, regular meeting; minutes of the 27 June 2016, work session: and minutes of the 27 June 2016, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Mueller, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Kant addressed the City Council and reminded everyone to thank the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department for an excellent Fourth of July fireworks display; and thank our Police Department who was there from the beginning until the end of the celebration. He mentioned there were no altercations this year; and also that the Art Walk went without a hitch. Chief Petties addressed the City Council and introduced Fairhope's newest Police Officer Travis Long who comes to the City from Mobile. Officer Long thanked the City Council and Mayor for allowing him to be a part of Fairhope. Mayor Kant told the Fairhope Police Department that the City is proud of all of you; we respect all of you; and thank all of you for what you do for Fairhope. Council President Burrell stated there was a need to add on an agenda item after Agenda Item Number 12: a Resolution that Option No. 4 of the proposed striping plan for De La Mare Avenue by Jade Consulting, LLC with a one-way east to west traffic direction is hereby approved. Councilmember Boone moved to add on the above mentioned item not on the printed agenda. Seconded by Councilmember Brewer, motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
