HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-22-2016 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 22 August 2016. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Rich Mueller, Diana Brewer, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Timothy M. Kant, City Attorney Marion E. Wynne, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmember Michael A. Ford was absent. There being a quorum present, Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Dr. Ed Glaize, Senior Pastor of Fairhope United Methodist Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Brewer moved to approve minutes of the 8 August 2016, regular meeting; minutes of the 8 August 2016, work session; and minutes of the 8 August 2016, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Mueller, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Kant addressed the City Council and reminded everyone to go vote tomorrow. He asked Coach Carter and the Fairhope High School Football Team to come forward. Coach Tim Carter addressed the City Council and thanked Mayor Kant and the City Council for their support. Coach Carter introduced the "Senior Players" from the Fairhope Football Team that were in attendance. He then introduced the coaching staff: Ryan Mueller, Mark Seeley, Coach Blake McDonald, Coach Keith Trimew, Coach Nelson, Coach David Beverly, and Coach Vaughn Maceina. Coach Carter said there are 96 total players on the team with 26 being seniors. The following individual addressed the City Council during Public Participation for Agenda Items: !. Anthony Ghiiardi, 586 Musket Avenue, addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Item Number 10: An Ordinance to amend Ordinances No. 1253 and No. 1279 known as Huntington Subdivision PUD to be known as Old Battles Village, Phase II Planned Unit Development (PUD). He said that Truland Homes is building Phase II; and it is landlocked. The City accepted the bond years ago; and the streets are 10 or 11 years old and in tough shape. Mr. Ghiiardi said he met with Nathan Cox and Grant last week; and the one option is to use Queensgate instead of Garrison. He said one of their main concerns is the 90 degree turn that will have to be made; and this loo could cause more damage. Truland has assured them that they will help remedy any damage. He just wanted the City to remember this conversation.
