HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-11-2016 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 11 April 2016. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Rich Mueller, Diana Brewer, Michael A. Ford, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Timothy M. Kant, City Attorney Marion E. Wynne, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. There being a quorum present, Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Barkley Gannon, Family Pastor at The Way Community Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Brewer moved to approve minutes of the 28 March 2016, regular meeting; minutes of the 28 March 2016, work session; and minutes of the 28 March 2016, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Mueller, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Kant addressed the City Council and stated Sherry Sullivan had a few announcements and a presentation tonight. Ms. Sullivan explained the Anti-Litter Contest and announced the winner being Ellie Heath. Mayor Kant and Ms. Sullivan presented Ms. Heath with a framed copy of her winning picture: "We got 1 world ... Keep it clean and Go Green;" and t-shirts (picture on these) for her family. Ms. Sullivan also reminded everyone that Dan Burden completed his assessment of downtown parking and will sending a report with recommendations; and Katy Moss Warner, who is president of America in Bloom and an internationally known horticulturist, will be having two meetings on Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Ms. Warner spent more than 20 years as Director of Disney's Horticulture and Environmental initiatives at Walt Disney Resort in Florida. Mayor Kant reminded everyone of the Volunteer Fish Fry scheduled for Thursday in the Civic Center. The following individual addressed the City Council during Public Participation for Agenda Items: 1. Dot Yeager, 451 South Mobile Street, addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Item Number 5: an Ordinance requesting to amend the property of Fred Corte and Angelo Corte known as the Fly Creek PUD; specifically approximately 39.46 acres of the total 214 acres (Ordinance No. 1317). Ms. Yeager stated she was against the apartments; and wanted family friendly homes with children and pets. She said the PUD was approved in 2006 and now they want to change the original plans.
