HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-26-2016 City Council Work Session Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council met in a Work Session at 11:00 a.m., Delchamps Room, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Friday, 27 May 2016. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Diana Brewer and Kevin Boone, Mayor Timothy M. Kant, City Attorney Marion E. Wynne (arrived at 11:32 a.m.), and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmembers: Rich Mueller and Michael A. Ford were absent. Council President Burrell called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. The following topics were discussed: • Arthur Bosarge, Assistant Public Works Director, addressed the City Council and gave an update on the Paving Project; and the Drainage Project on Highway 104. • Bobby Hall, Director of Golf, addressed the City Council and gave an update on the Golf Course; increase in golf outings; and the Golf Course getting great reviews. • Dale Linder, Supervisor in Public Works, addressed the City Council regarding the 96-gallon garbage carts on the City Council agenda. Mr. Linder mentioned that these carts are needed due to the new subdivisions being built in Fairhope. • Eddie Hall, Fairhope Volunteer Fireman, addressed the City Council regarding the benefit for two families on June 5, 2016. • Fire Chief Chris Ellis addressed the City Council and gave an update on calls. He said that they have had 315 calls this year with the majority being motor vehicle accidents. • City Treasurer Deborah Smith addressed the City Council and gave an update on the RFQ for the 2007 GOW refinancing. She said that this should be on the next City Council agenda. • Jeff Montgomery, IT Director, addressed the City Council regarding the siren being back up and running. He said the siren will be tested on June 7, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Then, the siren will be tested on the first Tuesday of every month. He commented the siren will be manned from dispatch and will be activated for tornado wamings and if there is a warning for winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. • Dan McCrory, Water and Sewer Superintendent, addressed the City Council regarding the sewer lines for the Catholic School. • James Gillespie, General Superintendent, addressed the City Council and introduced Mac Walcott with Walcott Adams Vemeuille. Mr. Walcott gave a brief update on the Fairhope Public Library and the need for repairs. He said the request will be for a single source for all of the repairs; and there will be an investigative phase and a repair phase for the project.
