COUNTY OF BALDWIN )(
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at
6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Monday. 9 July 2018.
Present were Council President Pro Tempore Jay Robinson, Councilmembers:
Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Keyin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City
Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Cleric Lisa A. Hanks. Council President
Jack Burrell was absent.
There being a quorum present, Council President Pro Tempore Robinson
called the meeting to order. The inyocation was giyen by Pastor William Parsons of
Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Councilmember Conyers moyed to approye minutes of the 25 June 2018, regular
meeting; minutes of the 25 June 2018, work session; and minutes of the 25 June 2018,
agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Brown, motion passed unanimously
by yoice yote.
Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council regarding the following items:
1) Thanked the Fire Department and employees for the best Fire Works display;
and thanked the Baldwin Pops for volunteering to put on free concerts
throughout the year.
2) Presented a Financial Snap Shot from FY 2016 to FY 2018.
Council President Pro Tempore Robinson stated there was a need to add on an
agenda item after Agenda Item Number 23: a resolution that the Fairhope City
Council hereby authorizes Mayor Karin Wilson to negotiate a purchase price for the
Riviera Property (200' x 200' property on the northwest comer of Young and
Nichols); and bring back to the City Council for approval.
Councilmember Conyers moved to add on the above-mentioned items not on
the printed agenda. Seconded by Councilmember Boone, motion passed unanimously
by voice vote.
Council President Pro Tempore Robinson explained there were concems
regarding the proposed utility rates and that during the Work Session there were
discussions about tabling until a future date.
Councilmember Boone moved to table Agenda Items Number 7, 8, 9, and 10:
[Ordinances regarding the Utility Rates for Electric, Gas, Water, and Sewer], until the
concems of the residential and commercial customers are addressed. Seconded by
Councilmember Conyers, motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
