HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-13-2018 Regular Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Tuesday. 13 November 2018. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, Attorney Marion E. Wynne attended for City Attorney, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmember Jay Robinson and City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell were absent. There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Reverend A. B. Sawyer, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Council President Burrell stated there was a need to add on three agenda items after Agenda Item Number 35 and one agenda item after Agenda Item Number 36: a resolution that the City of Fairhope hereby adopts and approves the Recreation and Public Works Departments as specified for the FY 2018-2019; a resolution that the City Council finds that improving the water distribution systems in and around the City of Fairhope serve a valuable public purpose; and the City Council desires to provide improved fire protection to the area of the water distribution system near the intersection of Fairhope Avenue and Brown Street, and particularly to better serve the existing businesses and future businesses along the Fairhope Avenue corridor; and approves the required funding for this capacity upgrade be drawn from the capital improvement reserve funds as an amount estimated at $21,750.00; a resolution authorizing signees of all City of Fairhope Accounts; and an Executive Session. Councilmember Boone moved to add on the above-mentioned item (s) not on the printed agenda. Seconded by Councilmember Conyers, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Councilmember Brown moved to approve minutes of the 22 October 2018, regular meeting; minutes of the 22 October 2018, work session; and minutes of the 22 October 2018, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Boone, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council regarding the following items: 1) First City Golf Tournament; 2) Monday thru Friday Senior Group donated the audio system at the Golf Course; 3) Tomas Catar was awarded the USTA 2018 Southern Tennis Professional of the Year for outstanding tennis on and off the court;
