COUNTY OF BALDWIN )(
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at
6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Wednesday. 29 May 2019.
Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson,
Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Keyin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City
Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks.
There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to
order. The inyocation was giyen by Tim Clark, Worship Pastor of Celebration
Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Council President Burrell stated there was a need to add on an agenda item (s) after
Agenda Item Number 30: a resolution to Award Bid for Sewer Main Point Repair and
By-Pass Connections for the Sewer Department (Bid Number 009-19) to W. R.
Mitchell Contractor, Inc. with a total bid proposal of $1,185,500.00. The first year of
the contract will be $250,000.00 with the remaining balance budgeted in the next two
years.
Councilmember Boone moyed to add on the aboye-mentioned item (s) not on
the printed agenda. Seconded by Councilmember Brown, motion passed
unanimously by yoice yote.
Councilmember Conyers moyed to approye minutes of the 10 May 2019,
special called city council meeting; minutes of the 13 May 2019, regular meeting;
minutes of the 13 May 2019, work session; and minutes of the 13 May 2019, agenda
meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Brown, motion passed unanimously by yoice
yote.
Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council and gaye the following report
which is found at the end of the minutes.
Council President Burrell explained that the purchase of the Triangle property was
$8.75 million and appraised for $12.0 million. He said we are crafting a conseryation
easement to protect the land. Council President Burrell said the land purchase was
also recommended by the Recreation Board; and we are getting an appraisal for the
land yalue. He commented the Twin Beech area parcel was 40 percent higher than
appraisal. Mayor Wilson replied the property would be paid out of Impact Fee Funds.
