HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-23-2020 Work Session Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN ) ( )( The City Council met in a Work Session at 4:30 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, 23 November 2020. Present were Councilmembers: Corey Martin, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Sherry Sullivan, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Council President Burrell and Councilmember Conyers were absent. Councilmember Brown called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. The following topics were discussed: • Councilmember Martin gave an update on the Recreation Board; and stated there was no quorum for the Fairhope Environmental Advisory Board • Councilmember Brown gave an update on the Recreation Board regarding the 5-year Plan and Volanta Park. • Mayor Sullivan gave an update on the Christmas Parade modifications scheduled for December 4, 2020. She said it would begin at Magnolia A venue and Section Street and proceed to Morphy A venue; and would be a drive-thru parade with static displays. Mayor Sullivan commented we are asking families to wear pajamas while driving thru the parade; and the traffic would continuously flow. Councilmember Brown also gave an update on the Fairhope Public Schools Commission. He am1ounced that Fairhope East Elementary is now a STEAM Certified School. • Public Works Director Richard Johnson addressed the City Council regarding Debris Removal and said the final pu sh will end on December 7, 2020. He said the annual paving program began today. • Community Affairs Director Jessica Walker addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Item Number 25: a resolution for an App funded by the CARES Act. She explained its features, mentioned the company is very solid; and we should get a return on investment in about 3 years . Ms. Walker commented this should bridge the gap between the City and its citizens. • Gas Superintendent Terry Holman addressed the City Council regarding the gas replacement services which should begin on November 30 , 2020. Monday , November 23 , 2020 Page -2- • Recreation Director Pat White addressed the City Council regarding the need to put parents on notice that golf carts are prohibited on the Quail Creek Golf Course and its cart path. There being no further business to come before the City Council , the meeting was duly adjourned at 4:55 p.m. ~.id6'-~ C ity Clerk
