HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-28-2020 Agenda Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council met in an Agenda Meeting at 5:30 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Thursday, 28 May 2020. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson, Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Council President Burrell called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. The City Council reviewed and discussed the agenda for their meeting to be held today at 6:00 p.m. City Clerk Lisa Hanks, City Treasurer Kim Creech, IT Director Jeff Montgomery, Scada Technician Richard Peterson, and Public Works Director Richard Johnson addressed the City Council and briefly explained their Department's Agenda Items. Council President Burrell said there were four resolutions that need to be added to the agenda: 1) a resolution that the placement of tents, tables, umbrellas, and lights may be placed in the following areas for citizens to use for take-out dining: Welcome Center, Museum Green Space, City lot at comer of Bancroft and Fairhope Avenue, and City property located at the comer of Section Street and Fairhope Avenue; And that restaurant owners may request one five minute parking space in front of their business for take out orders. The terms and conditions of this resolution shall expire upon the Govemor lifting the restrictions on inside dining; 2) a resolution that all Playground Equipment in the City of Fairhope shall be reopened and any prior resolution to the contrary shall be rescinded; 3) a resolution that the City Council hereby authorizes and approves the Baldwin County Board of Education and Fairhope High School to use W. C. Majors Field and Fairhope Municipal Stadium for the High School Graduation Ceremony on June 2, 2020; and in the event of a rainout, to use on June 3, 2020 subject to social distancing measures in place at the time; and 4) a resolution that the City Council That the Fairhope City Council hereby authorizes Jack Burrell (on behalf of the City Council) to negotiate a Lease Agreement with the University of South Alabama, at 10 North Summit Street; and bring back to the City Council for approval.
