COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at
6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Thursday, 27 February 2020.
Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson,
Jimmy Conyers, and Robert Brown, Mayor Karin Wilson, Attorney Trey Canida for
McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Councilmember Keyin Boone and City
Attorney Marcus E. McDowell were absent.
There being a quorum present. Council President Burrell called the meeting to
order at 6:10 p.m. The inyocation was giyen by Reyerend Matt McCollum, Pastor
of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Council President Burrell stated there was a need to add on an agenda item
after Agenda Item Number 20: a resolution to award Bid No. (012-20) for 70 Electric
Golf Carts 2020 for a 48 Month Lease for the Golf Course (Option 2, Alternate 3) to
Yamaha Golf Cart Company with a total bid proposal of $217,862.40 ($54,465.60 per
year).
Councilmember Brown moyed to add on the aboye-mentioned item (s) not on
the printed agenda. Seconded by Councilmember Conyers, motion passed
unanimously by yoice vote.
Councilmember Conyers moved to approve minutes of the 10 February 2020,
regular meeting; minutes of the 10 February 2020, work session; and minutes of the
10 February 2020, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Robinson, motion
passed unanimously by voice vote.
Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council regarding the following items:
1) Just returned from Montgomery to speak against two bills that are being
considered by our State Legislature: one relates to our Police and Extraterritorial
Jurisdiction and the other one relates to the "Bamwell Landmark District" which
is 44 square miles. Both would affect the City of Fairhope.
2) 2020 Volunteer Fair scheduled for March 5, 2020 at the James P. Nix Center
from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
3) March 7, 2020 will be the City Team Scramble at Quail Creek Golf Course.
4) 68th Annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival will be March 20, 2020 through
March 22, 2020; and
5) Parking Garage and Transit Hub Project should begin after the Arts and Crafts
Festival. This will be called "Arts Alley" which was named by our citizens.
