Mayor Sullivan gave an update regarding Hurricane Isaias and said we have a
great team who is ready. She said right now they are looking at landfall near the
Florida -Alabama line. Mayor Sullivan said we will continue to monitor the storm
which will either be a strong Category 1 or a Category 2 at landfall. She commented
that one of our main concerns is the storm surge with up to 5 to 7 feet. Mayor stated
that the City would be closing around noon tomorrow or earlier; and said we will
know more after our Leadership Team meeting this afternoon. She said we have been
in touch with our mutual aid; have on -call staff on stand-by such as customer service;
and everyone should stay inside and let us do our jobs. She stated that a shelter has
been opened at the Baldwin County Fair Grounds. Mayor Sullivan said pray for
everyone and stay safe.
Councilmember Gammon thanked Mayor Sullivan for getting the word out
regarding generators and where these should be used; not in your house or garage.
Council President Conyers said, "Go Pirates" with the game being moved to
tonight; and hopes everyone has a great "Fall Break."
