Members absent: Carrie Mackey
Principals and School Staff present: Kylee Henseler- Fairhope East Elementary; Tonya
Harrelson, Erica Lee, Brandon Clay, Amanda Smith- J. Larry Newton Elementary; John
Cardwell- Fairhope High School
City Leaders present: Jimmy Conyers, Mayor Sherry Sullivan
Chair David Johnson called the meeting to order at 4:33pm and the April 1st meeting
minutes were approved.
J Larry Newton Elementary Request
Mrs. Harrelson presented an amendment request on behalf of J. Larry Newton Elementary,
with item to be funded by K-1 money to establish an Outdoor Basketball court for students
at a cost of $80,321.50 (plus cost of fill dirt at $400 per load). The contractor thinks the
project may require one load. This will bring the K-I balance for Newton to $0.

After hearing the request as presented, a motion was made by Kathy Sternenberg and
seconded by Vicki Bailey. The motion passed.
David Johnson adjourned the meeting at 4:42 p.m. There is no meeting scheduled for the
summer months. We look forward to restarting our meetings in August or September.
