HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026JulyAugustAs America celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026, the City of Fairhope is continuing the celebration with patriotic events, community activities, and festive touches throughout town this summer.
Over the past several months, Fairhope has hosted a variety of America 250 initiatives including the planting of 250 tree seedlings at Flying Creek Nature Preserve, Genealogy Day at the Fairhope Public Library, the Fairhope Transcription Project, and the Fairhope Museum of History’s Open Archives exhibit featuring rarely displayed historical artifacts.
Residents and visitors will also notice patriotic spirit throughout downtown with red, white, and blue pole banners, American flags, and a specially decorated downtown shuttle. The Fairhope Museum of History is offering free commemorative America 250 postcards, encouraging visitors to stop by, send a postcard from Fairhope, and take part in the nationwide celebration.
The city will wrap up its summer America 250 festivities with the annual Fourth of July Concert & Fireworks Celebration on July 4 at Henry George Park and the Municipal Pier. The Baldwin Pops will have 250 musicians perform at 7:30 p.m., followed by a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:00 p.m. over Mobile Bay.
Fairhope looks forward to continuing the America 250 celebration throughout 2026 while honoring our nation’s history and celebrating the community spirit that makes our city unique.

City Sketches JULY / AUGUST 2026
Exciting news for Fairhope residents! The City of Fairhope
has begun distributing new 96-gallon recycling cans as part
of the launch of our new single-stream recycling program,
making recycling easier and more convenient than ever.
Funded through a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the Alabama Recycling Fund, the program allows approved recyclable items to be placed together in one container.
Residents who would like to request a recycling can are
able to sign up on the City of Fairhope’s website. Please
allow time for delivery as crews work throughout
Fairhope to distribute cans citywide.
To help keep recycling contamination-free, please remember these items cannot go in recycling bins:
• Plastic bags or bagged recyclables
• Styrofoam
• Glass
• Food waste
For more information or to sign up for a recycling can,
visit the City of Fairhope website or scan the QR code.
