Larry Newton Elementary School Members present: David Johnson, Joe Kelley, Carrie Mackey, Vickie Bailey, Paul Hannon, Kathy Sternenberg, Tricia Gunnells, Chad Lagrone, Scott Fraser Members absent: None Principals and School Staff present: Christina Stacey and Kylee Henseler- Fairhope East Elementary; Tonya Harrelson, Brandon Clay and Erica Lee- J. Larry Newton Elementary; Katie Shurett and Shawn O’Conner- Fairhope Middle School; John Cardwell- Fairhope High School City Leaders present: Jimmy Conyers Chair David Johnson called the meeting to order at 4:32pm and the February 4th meeting minutes were approved. Fairhope East Elementary Request Mrs. Stacey requests to use K-1 funds to make the following purchases After hearing the beneﬁts and viewing photos of the materials a motion was made by Joe Kelley and seconded by Vicki Bailey. The motion passed. Fairhope High School Request Mr. Cardwell requests to use their designated K-1 funds of $54,000 to implement new graphics and branding around the school to promote school pride and modernize the facility. After hearing the request, a motion was made by Joe Kelley and seconded by Paul Hannon. The motion passed. Position/Item Cost Handwriting Programs $11,000 Book Vending Machine $6,400 Math Manipulatives $5,000 Laminator $4,000 Math Books/Materials $500 Track $70,000 Library Books $10,000 Headphones $500 Nonfiction Books $5,000 Furniture $10,000 VoxBlocks $3,000 Classroom Furniture $26,000 TOTAL $152,000 Other Business Vickie Bailey discussed that Thomas Hospital was requesting artwork from local schools for their hallways. Mrs. Stacey and Mrs. Harrelson agreed to gather artwork from their art departments to display along the hospital walls in the coming weeks. Our principals will be making presentations to the City Council showing the beneﬁts and use of the 3MIL funding. Below are the dates of each presentation which will all begin at 4:30pm.
