Home My WebLink About01-07-2026 Fairhope Public Schools Commission Meeting MinutesCommission Attendance Fairhope Public Schools Commission January 7, 2026 Nix Center Members present: David Johnson, Joe Kelley, Carrie Mackey, Vickie Bailey, Paul Hannon, Kathy Sternenberg, Tricia Gunnells, Chad Lagrone, Scott Fraser Members absent: None Principals, School staff, City Leaders present: None Guest: Gary Gover Chair David Johnson called the meeting to order at 4:33pm and the November 5th meeting minutes were approved. Membership Business- Approval and Introductions Carrie Mackey was presented as a reappointment to begin her second three-year term. Joe Kelly made a motion to reappoint. Kathy Sternenberg seconded that motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed. Our two newest members, Chad Lagrone and Scott Fraser, were welcomed and introduced themselves to the other commission members with a brief bio. Commission Policy Review Commission work, policies, attendance requirements, and expectations for all members were discussed and reviewed. Current Bylaw Discussions We discussed existing bylaws and a request was made to revise Article III, Section 1from “The Commission shall meet on the ﬁrst Wednesday of each month at 4:30pm in the Fairhope Public Library. All Meetings shall be open to the public.” And changed to “The Commission shall meet on the ﬁrst Wednesday of each month at 4:30pm. The location will be posted by the City Clerk seven days prior to the meeting date. All Meetings shall be open to the public.” Carrie Mackey made a motion to amend this section of our bylaws. Vickie Bailey seconded the motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed.
