Tree Committee Meeting
August 13, 2025
3 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room
161 N Section Street
Members present: Paul Fontenot, Joanne Hogan, Audra Warren, Craig Tappan and Carol
Sullivan. Absent: Corey Martin, May Moss Parker, Skip Jones and Knox McMurphy.
Guests: Will Mastin and Justin Hammers
Paul Fontenot called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m. The Minutes of the meeting for May 8,
2025, were considered and approved with a motion by Audra Warren, seconded by Joanne
Hogan, and unanimously passed.
Paul informed the tree committee that a moratorium is in place and the City is not accepting new
permits at this time. There was general discussion among the committee on trees at South Beach
Park.
Justin Hammers shared that the Grand Opening of the FCNP will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
August 23, 2025. There was also discussion of the next tree committee meeting being held in the
conference room at the Flying Creek Nature Preserve on November 12, 2025, at 3 p.m.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
