City of Fairhope Recreation Department Mission Statement: To offer the citizens of
Fairhope the best and safest recreational facilities in all sports and leisure.
Minutes of the Fairhope Recreation Board
The Fairhope Recreation Board met on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, at 5:15 p.m.
at the James P. Nix Center, 1 Bayou Drive, Fairhope, Alabama.
Present: Pat White, Cathy Hudson, Charlie Langham, Josh Warren, Debra Flowers,
Robert Jernigan, Jarred Richardson, Cole Wagner, Jay Robinson, and Mary Lee
Matzenger. Absent: Mike Baugh, Scott Berry, and Andrea Booth.
The meeting was called to order by Josh Warren at 5:18 p.m. The minutes of the October
15th, 2025, meeting were considered and approved on a motion by Charlie Langham,
seconded by Debra Flowers, none opposed.
Guests: Mayor Sherry Sullivan and Robbin Gregory from Gonzalez-Strength &
Associates.
Josh Warren introduced our two new Rec Board Members, Robert Jernigan and Jarred
Richardson, along with our two new City Council Rec Board liaisons, Jay Robinson and
Andrea Booth.
Recreation Project Updates: Pat White informed the Board of the following
updates:
• FHS hosted the 2nd round of the high school football playoffs last week.
• The Barnwell football project has begun, and it will include 4 regular size flag football
fields, along with storage and a pavilion.
• There is a construction meeting tomorrow morning to discuss the renovations for the
pool.
• Youth basketball has started practicing.
• The visitor’s side concession stand inside the football stadium has been torn down, as
it was dilapidated.
• The high school baseball home side dugout at Volanta has been demolished, with
construction starting on the new one soon.
Recreational Operations Updates:
• Robbin Gregory with Strength-Gonzalez & Associates gave a review of their conceptual
master plan for the Highway 32/13 property.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
