The Harbor Board met at 4:30 p.m.,
Mayor's Conference Room,
161 N Section St .
Fairhope, Alabama 36532
on Wednesday, January 8, 2025
Members present: Mikeal Donald, Hobart “Reed” Key, Michael Nash, Skip Jones, and Chris
Cunningham. Scott Douglass and Robert Barry not present. City of Fairhope staff present:
Mark Reddit, Harbor Manager, Pat White, Director of Parks and Recreation and Becky
Barnard, Administrative Assistant for Parks and Recreation. Becky Barnard took the
minutes.
The meeting was called to order at 4:35pm.
Minutes from the October 23, 2024, meeting were presented and approved on a motion by
Skip Jones; seconded by Hobart “Reed” Key, none opposed.
There were no Council comments.
Mark Redditt, Harbor Manager gave report. Fuel sales down this month with the inclement
weather in December 2024. The ship store is moving along and is in the process of being
painted, with provisions starting soon on shelving. Beverages and the Coast Guard “approved”
equipment are being reviewed. The ship store will accept cash and credit card payments.
Discussion was had about advertising our Marina to the Loopers, navigating them direction to
us, instead of other marinas. Mark Redditt stated most people go to Dog River Marina strictly
to have their vessel maintenance. Reed Key inquired if we are using the “Activate Captain
GPS Tracking system, and Mark Redditt stated we are to tell when loopers are coming into our
marina. Mark Redditt stated that since last meeting in October, we have only lost 2 boats in
our slips and we 85-90%.
Mark Redditt reported on Clean Marina Status that he is working with Nicole Love on getting
grants applied for, along with signage, gravel and boom. Once the grant is approved, then an
official ribbon cutting and date will be advertised.
Reed Key inquired about the dredging between our Marina and the Yacht Club. Pat White
stated our engineer has put it in the hands of the Yacht Club.
Skip Jones made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Reed Key, none opposed.
There being no further business to come before the Harbor Board, the meeting was duly
adjourned at 5:03 pm.
