Review/Approve July 2025 Meeting minutes: July Meeting minutes approved as written
Administrative Items:
Google Drive – Morgan to archive some information and get it better organized
Agenda Items:
Chief Hollinghead, City Attorney Marcus McDowell, and Katie met to discuss E-Bike
Ordinances and Vulnerable Road User Laws
o E-Bike Ordinances – this is moving forward, and the Chief will present
options to the City Council during the next working session.
o Vulnerable Road User – Not moving forward at this time.
Bike Rack Update
o Eastern Shore Art Center location has been approved
o Due to outstanding participation at Fairhope West Elementary Bike to School
initiative, there is potential for a new bike rack there.
Green Space Connectivity Initiative
o Katie met with Ben Frater and had a discussion of connecting green spaces
through gully networks
o Exploring ways to connect green spaces and create walking/biking paths
o Challenges include identifying public vs private land of existing gullies
Flying Creek Nature Preserve
o Grand Opening was on 08/23/2025 and overall, the reception has been good
o However, there are some concerns over some possible accessibility issues
Katie, Nicole, and Chris to take a visit
Safe Streets for All – An internal draft has been completed and is being reviewed
Recreational Facility at CR 13 & 32
o Discussion had around use of property and that it will be focused more on
recreation than sports
o Suggestions of putting in some walking paths around perimeter
o Mike Walker volunteered to each out to recreational board for input
Twin Beech / Boothe and Summer Lake / Twin Beech Intersections
o TraAic study being conducted by ESMPO – to be completed by October
Working Waterfront Project
o Nearing completion. Plans for accessibility up the hill have changed and will
now be a switchback path
Back burner items
o Comprehensive Land Use Plan – Katie is on steering committee and will keep
us apprised
