At 5:30 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Civic Center
161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532,
on Monday, 16 June 2025.
Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Corey martin,
Jimmy Conyers, Jay Robinson and Kevin Boone; Recreation Board Members: Mike
Baugh, Charlie Langham, Josh Warren, Cathy Hudson and Debra Flowers (Absent: Lisa
Atchley, Scott Berry and Mary Lee Matzenger); Mayor Sherry Sullivan , Parks and
Recreation Director, Pat White, Cole Wagner and Becky Barnard.
Mike Baugh called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
The topic being discussed:
● Discussion of Master Plan for Recreation Property at County Road 13 &
County Road 32.
▫ All individuals present agreed that this property will have to be
built in phases.
▫ Review of the most necessary needs being included in Phase 1
(indoor multi-purpose gym space), including the discussion of exactly how
many courts will be needed, with the possibility of multi-purpose outdoor
fields.
There being no further business to come before the City Council and Recreation Board,
the Work Session was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
Minutes of the Fairhope Recreation Board
The Fairhope Recreation Board met on Monday, June 16th, 2025, at 6:25 p.m. at the
Fairhope Municipal Complex, Civic Center, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama.
Present: Pat White, Cathy Hudson, Charlie Langham, Mike Baugh, Jack Burrell, Josh
Warren, Debra Flowers, Corey Martin, Cole Wagner, and Mayor Sherry Sullivan. Absent:
Mary Lee Matzenger, Lisa Atchley, and Scott Berry.
The meeting was called to order by Mike Baugh at 6:25 p.m. The minutes of the May
21st, 2025, meeting was considered and approved on a motion by Charlie Langham,
seconded by Cathy Hudson, none opposed.
Guest(s): Elizabeth Mitchell (HEAT Swim Team): Gave a brief introduction to their swim
program and a proposal of using the indoor swimming facility for their practices.
Recreation New Business: General discussion was had regarding HEAT to rent
lanes from September to July. Discussion was also had about making a master plan for
the Barnwell property now that the City of Fairhope officially owns it. Pat White informed
the Board that the high school will have a girls’ tackle football league this year with 5
homes games being held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The discussion was had to
have them use the inside area of the Track at Founders for their HOME GAMES ONLY.
Cathy Hudson made a motion to recommend to the City Council to accept HEAT swim
team’s proposal and use the fees that the City has in place already (per lane, per hour),
but all based on review and approval from City staff, and 2nd by Mike Baugh, Charlie
Langham opposed, motion passed.
Mike Baugh made a motion to allow FHS Girls’ Flag Football to use the field of the Track
and Field at Founders for up to 5 home games in the Fall of 2025, and 2nd by Josh Warren,
motion passed unanimously.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
