With a focus on reliability, capacity, and sustainability, FPU is completing major upgrades across the city. A recent milestone is the Section Street Force Main Project, a critical sewer improvement that increases flow capacity and reduces the risk of backups ensuring improved service for customers. To meet rising demand for water, FPU is developing two new water wells and has completed significant upgrades at two of our Water Treatment Plants. At Plant 2 on Fairhope Avenue, new pumps increased output 432,000 gallons per day. At Plant 1 near Fairhope East Elementary, system improvements now allow three wells to run simultaneously, boosting capacity by 576,000 gallons per day. Meanwhile, the Gas Department is moving forward with Phase II of the cast iron replacement project in downtown Fairhope, further enhancing safety and service reliability. These infrastructure projects reflect FPU’s commitment to maintaining and growing our systems.
