Monday, May 23, 2019
The meeting was held in the Fairhope Public Library Board Room. Martin Lanaux called the meeting to
order at 4:00 PM. Also in attendance were Dan Sta nkoski, Tamara Dean, Jimmy Conyers and Aliso n
Knight.
Tamara Dean is working on filling the vacancies created by Cheryl Bradley (IT /~eference), Pam Mccrae
(Reference Technician) and Alan Samry (Reference Technician). In the case of t~e IT/Reference pos ition,
Tamara hopes to divide the job into two separate positions according to the budget appropriations in
the future.
Tamara Dean mentioned Frazine Taylor who gave two seminars at the library on African American
genealogy research (as part of the 2019 LSAT grant) ha s been elected as the first African American
President of the Alabama Historical Society.
Tamara Dean distributed copies of the Bylaws of The Board of Trustees of the Fairhope Public Library.
Tamara Dean reported that the library will be collaborating wit h the Alabama 2020 Census (Alabama
Counts).
Tamara Dean expressed her gratitude to the Friends of the Fairhope Public Library for the new self-
chec kout and pri nter sta t ion which she says has been extremely pop ular w ith patr ons.
Jimmy Conyers asked how the building had done during recent rain storms. Tamara said that there had
been no leaks.
Tamara Dean reported on a discussion she had with Cassie Boatwright, Dean of Operations and
Maintenance for Coastal Alabama Community College who said that their goal was to lessen their
footpri nt and ther efore may be vacating the space t hey currently use on t he 2nd floor of the library .
Tamara said that the library needs the additiona l space and hopes that we can use the space for
expansion.
Jiffy Conyers offered to speak to Lisa Ha nk s about t he status of t he 2nd floo r space.
With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM . The next Library Board
meeting will be held on M onday, June 17, 2019 at 4:00pm.
