HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-107ORDINANCE NO. 107 BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Fairhopel Alabama, as follows: SECTION 1. That a tax of Five Dollars per capita be levied upon all male inhabitants within the corporate limits of the Tvwn of Fairhopej Alabama, between the ages of eighteen and forty five years old, for the tax year beginning October 1, 1929. Said tax shall be payable on the first day of said month and on the first day of October every year thereafter. If the said tax is not paid within thirty days after same becomes due and pay- able the delinquent taxpayer shall be given five days notice to work for five days on the streets. If such delinquent refuses to perform such work, he shall be guilty of a violation of this ordinance and it shall be the duty of the Town Marshal to arrest and bring him before the Mayor, and, if he be found guilty of suc h violation, he shall be fined Ten Dollars, which fire shall in clude said tax and costs of Court. Should delinquent then fail, refuse or be unable to pay said fine, it shall be the duty of the Mayor to sentence him to hard labor on the streets of the Town for a period of ten days. SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinance in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon publication. Adopted September 12, 1929, Attest: Mayor Clerk
