New business began with a discussion on the reclassification of the Utilities Public Relations Coordinator position from exempt to non-exempt due to the current role’s lack of decision-making authority. Minor edits to the job description were noted, and the position will remain in pay grade 11, with some budget flexibility to cover potential overtime. A motion was passed to support the change and recommend it to the council. Next, the committee discussed the upcoming Salary and Classification Study RFP, intended for FY26 implementation, with updates to job titles, pay scales, and descriptions to follow in FY27. Emphasis was placed on ensuring the selected firm delivers a useful and actionable final product. The safety coordinator reported 11 incidents for 2025 YTD versus 16 in the same period in 2024, with three open workers’ compensation claims totaling $8,230.84. All employees involved have returned to work. Safety initiatives in progress include CPR certifications, trenching/excavation safety training, and forklift certification for all city employees. The board also discussed whether these certifications could reduce insurance costs, with follow-up pending from a call with the city’s insurance contact. The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was announced for that evening, and the board was reminded that June’s meeting would likely include any reclassification proposals ahead of the budget cycle. Lastly, the board was updated on potential new members, with resumes and contact details to be sent out for review. The meeting adjourned without further comments. Thanks, Jake O’Neil Board Secretary
