Mr. Marshall Carney asked to be heard at the end of
the meeting. He showed what he claimed to be a "find",
the fossilized horn of a rare Baldwin County Pink Rhino
Fantastica, or "Rex", which Mr. Carney had found many
years ago along the shore of Mobile Bay near his family
home in Daphne. Mr. Carney said there was absolutely no
truth to the rumor that this find is actually a piece of
driftwood; nor that there is no such animal as "Rex"; and
for those who might want to check out the authenticity of
his claim, they only had to refer to an article, written
by him, in the world-famous paleontologic magazine of
July 7, 1998. When asked to repeat the magazine issue date,
Mr. Carney again said July 7, 1998, and added that he was
willing to sell his find to the City for only $75.00. After
passing the horn of Rex around, the Council decided to refer
the matter to Councilman Ford, and the Museum Committee.
Mr. Carney was given a round of applause.
There being no further business, meeting was duly
adjourned at 6:20 pm.
