Minutes of the Fairhope Recreation Board The Fairhope Recreation Board met on Wednesday , April 16th , 2025 , at 5 :15 p.m. at the Fairhope Recreation Center , 803 North Greeno Road , Fairhope , Alabama . Present: Pat White , Cathy Hudson , Charlie Langham , Scott Berry , Josh Warren , Mary Lee Matzenger, Mike Baugh , Jack Burrell , and Debra Flowers . Absent: Lisa Atchley , Maurice Morrisette , and Corey Martin . The meeting was called to order by Mike Baugh at 5:15 p .m. The minutes of the March 19th , 2025 , meeting was considered and approved on a motion by Charl ie Langham , seconded by Cathy Hudson , none opposed . Guest(s): Gary Gover, Sally (last name unknown), and members of HEAT swim team General New Business : Chairman , Mike Baugh thanked Lisa Atchley for her service as Chairman for the last few years . Mike also wanted to take a little bit of time tonight to do a reset moving forward . All members of the Board , City Council Liaisons , and City of Fairhope employees all took a few moments and re -introduced themselves . Recreation New Business: General Discussion was had about making a current Board member "Co-Cha irman ". After the discussion , Charlie Langham made a motion to add a Co -Chairman position to the Rec Board , and 2nd by Josh Warren , none opposed . Charlie Langham made a motion to name Josh Warren as Co-Chairman , and 2 nd by Debra Flowers , none opposed . General discussion was had regarding the current 5-year plan (how it came to be , was the Rec Summit meeting information utilized , did the Board go park by park by need). Gene ral discussion was held regarding the new property on Highway 13 and 32 , and that will be tabled for May 's Rec meeting. Recreation Updates: Pat White informed the Rec Board of the following : • New weather stations (solar powered) were delivered and are be ing installed this week at Manley and Founders . • The entry ramp plaza area for the new concessions/bathroom building is nearing completion . (The bathrooms were opened for Special Olympics) We will be pouring the remaining concrete tomorrow morning , and the building should be fully operational by next week . • Both outdoor pools were resurfaced. The pool staff has been getting the outdoor area ready for the Spring and Summer swim season. • Maintenance staff is working on core aerification of all athletic fields to relieve compaction from all the daily use they receive this week due to it being Spring Break and we get a little break from games at night. • New handrails are being installed in the football stadium and around the new bathroom building . They are all aluminum so will be maintenance free . Shout out to Ray Mena , our city fabricator/welder on his impressive work that has saved the city thousands of dollars . • FHS Baseball clinched the Area 2 championship this week and will be hosting Dothan next Friday. • FHS Soccer clinched the area title for the first time since 2017. • Bayshore Academy baseball will be renting our field for 2 games on Friday night and 1, if necessary, game on Saturday. Their home field is located at a church that hosts Easter events all week. • We have hired 2 new employees to our staff, Mike Walley (Barnwell) and Patrick Reed (floater). Being no further business , the meeting was adjourned at 6 :36 p.m.
