Celebrating National Park and
Recreation Month in Fairhope
This July, Fairhope is celebrating National Park and
Recreation Month with a special focus on the invaluable role
parks play in enhancing community well-being. As the City
shines a spotlight on its green spaces, anticipation builds
for the late summer opening of the new Flying Creek Nature
Preserve, a haven for nature enthusiasts and a testament to
the city’s commitment to outdoor recreation. Set to open at
the end of summer, Flying Creek Nature Preserve will boast
nature trails,a nature center, outdoor classrooms, and
more!
Additionally, the Mike Ford Tennis Center is expanding its
facilities with the introduction of 10 new pickleball courts
and 2 new tennis courts this summer. These new additions
are sure to provide more opportunities for residents to
engage in fun and fitness.
Throughout July, keep an eye on the City of Fairhope's social
media channels, where we will be sharing updates on other
exciting projects and renovations within the Parks and
Recreation Department. Follow us on Facebook and
Instagram for the latest news and information. Join us in
celebrating the joy and benefits of our community parks!

2025-2026 beach decals can be picked up at City Hall, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

utility with Fairhope Public Utilities. This decal gives residents access to South Beach Park
by the Fairhope Municipal Pier, Orange Street Pier and the White Avenue boat launch.
Mark your calendars for our annual
Back to School Bash scheduled for
Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9 a.m
until 11 a.m. at the Fairhope United
Methodist Church.
What began as the Fairhope Police
Department’s “Back to School
with Blue” program, merged into
a community-wide effort to help
families in need prepare for a new
school year. Today, our partnerships
include many local churches, non-
profit organizations, and businesses.
Each student can receive over $300
in supplies or services. Especially
for a family with multiple children,
this is a significant help.
Anyone interested in sponsoring
this event or providing a
service/volunteer can contact

This year, Fairhope will continue its tradition of celebrating
Independence Day with a spectacular evening of music and
fireworks. The Baldwin Pops Band will set the stage with
their Independence Day Concert starting at 7:30 p.m. in
Henry George Park. Attendees will be treated to a selection
of patriotic tunes, providing the perfect backdrop to the
night’s main attraction. The fireworks display is set to
commence around 9 p.m. above the Fairhope Municipal
Pier.
For those planning to spend the day at the event, the north
end of Fairhope Municipal Park will be accessible all day
until parking reaches capacity. Additional viewing spots
will be available at the south end of the beachfront park
and Knoll Park. Limited handicap parking will be near the
fountain; early arrival is recommended for those needing
these spots, and they should be prepared to stay through
the duration of the fireworks. Families are encouraged to
bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy a full day
of fun and celebration.
There will be no garbage, trash, or recycling pickup.
Services will resume on the next scheduled pickup day.

Summer is always a fun time—and that’s especially
true in Fairhope!
This summer promises to be an exciting one as we
open Phase 1 of the Fairhope Community Nature
Park, wrap up construction of the new pickleball
and tennis courts at the Mike Ford Tennis Center,
and complete renovations at White Avenue Park.
We’re also kicking off construction at the beloved
Fairhope K-1 Center, and continuing essential
utility upgrades throughout town.
Of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without
outdoor festivities like the Fourth of July concert
and fireworks—and there’s no better place to watch
them than from the bluff overlooking Mobile Bay.
Thank you for your continued support as we make
these improvements across our community. We
know construction can be an inconvenience at
times, but these updates are vital to keeping
Fairhope a great place to live, work, and play.
Sherry Sullivan, Mayor
