Mayor Nix read the reply from the State Highway Department which said the intersection did not meet the necessary criteria for a traffic light at this time. The media representatives were asked to publicize the fact that people are placing broken glass and hypodermic needles in the trash and garbage without containerizing to prevent accidents. Two city employees recently suffered injuries due to this loose matter. Mayor Nix said the public needs to realize that improper handling of any hazardous material places not only the city under threat of a possible liable suit, but also the property owner.
