The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session
at 5:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber;
161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on
Monday, 8 June 1992.
Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White,
Jeanette Puckett, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and John
V. Duck; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn
Phillips. No one was absent.
There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting
to order. Minutes of the 25 May 1992 regular session were duly
approved.
Council again gave consideration to the Restaurant Liquor
License application by Harry P. Johnson, dba the SANTE FE GRILL,
19270 Scenic Highway 98, presented at the last meeting. Council-
man White reported he had checked out the opposition voiced at
the last meeting by Mr. Sam Dyson, and Mr. Dyson was no longer
opposed. No one present was opposed to the license. Councilman
White moved to approve issuing the license. Seconded by Council-
man Ford, motion passed unanimously.
Ms. Lydia Myers, LOFTY ENDEAVORS RESTAURANT, located on the
second floor of the old Gaston Building, corner Fairhope Avenue
and Section Street, presented a sketch of a proposed balcony.
The balcony will wrap around the corner of the building, placing
approximately 27 feet over the sidewalk along Fairhope Avenue.
Ms. Myers requested permission to construct the balcony as
planned, with 3 or 4 supporting columns along Fairhope Avenue.
The columns would be in line with those columns now in front
of Julwin's Restaurant a little further east in the same block
on Fairhope Avenue. (The part of the balcony facing Section
Street will be over the courtyard which is Ms. Myers' private
property.) After discussion, Councilman Duck moved to allow
the installation. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed
unanimously.

Councilwoman Puckett moved to accept the bid by Jim House & Associates of $8,066.00, pro-
vided all specifications are met. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Bishop moved to accept the Tieco bid, provided all specifications are met.
Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Duck moved to accept the low bid by Mocar Oil, provided all specifications are
met. Seconded by Councilman Bishop, motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Ford moved to pay bills as presented. Seconded
by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Pete Douglas asked if the committee on reviewing his
lease at the Airport was ready to make a report. Chairman
Ford advised him that they had just today received a survey
which they needed to discuss before making a report.
General Superintendent Rutherford reported the White Avenue
Bulkhead (Beach erosion) project should be complete within
about two weeks.
Customers on the Marlow Water Project should be able to
use water by the end of the month. Meter deposits are now
being accepted.
Estimates on gas service have been sent to potential custo-
mers in the Mullet Point area (south on County Road 1); and
as soon as at least 50 property owners sign up, the line can
be run.
There being no other business, meeting was duly adjourned
at 5:51 pm.
