HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-22-1991 Regular Meeting1208 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber; 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday, 22 July 1991. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, Michael A. Ford, and John V. Duck; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn P. Phillips. Councilman David E. Bishop was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 8 July 1991 regular session were duly approved. Councilman Duck introduced Ordinance No. 882, an ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 862 by adding animal control offenses and fines to the list of municipal offenses. In order to take immediate action, Councilman Duck moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion to suspend passed unan- imously by the following vote: AYE -White, Puckett, Nix, Ford, and Duck. NAY -none. Councilman Duck then moved to finally adopt Ordinance No. 882. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion to final adopt passe unanimously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Nix, Ford, and Duck. NAY - none. Councilwoman Puckett introduced Ordinance No. 883, an ordi- nance regulating Massage Parlors. In order to take immediate action, Councilwoman Puckett moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion to suspend passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE -White, Puckett, Nix, Ford, and Duck. NAY -none. Councilwoman Puckett then moved to finally adopt Ordinance No. 883. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion to final adopt passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Nix, Ford, and Duck. NAY - none. Council took the following action on bid items: FOR TWO-INCH GAS SERVICE TUBING SIX-MONTH BID, USED WITH GAS MAINS, ORDER IN 3500-FEET LOTS) Vendor Cost Delivery M.T. Deason Company Birmingham $0.4875 ft. 2 days Port City Pipe, Inc Mobile $0.4735 ft. 4 days It is recommended to accept the low bid by Port City Pipe. --W.Smith, Purch Agent Councilman White moved to accept the low bid, provided all speci- fications are met. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion 22 July 1991 1209 passed unanimously. BULKHEAD - WHITE AVENUE BEACH EROSION PROJECT -(LABOR ONLY) Vendor Cost Start Up Edgewater Marine Const Daphne $ 272250.00 10 days Robert Comalander, Jr., General Contractor Fairhope $ 28,875.00 45 days Mayor Nix explained no action on this work can be taken, the bids are for information only. The City has not yet received the necessary permits from the Corps of Engineers, and the scope of the project has not yet been determined. Councilman Duck moved to update the Volunteer Firemen's roster by adding Frank Boehm, Matt Creel, Tommy McDonald, and Steve Seay; and by deleting Hank Minor. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Ford moved to pay bills as presented. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Ford reported that there has been good response by the public in returning the Museum Questionnaire but if anyone had not yet returned their questionnaire to please do so. Mayor Nix reported that the area to be closed for the street dance as requested by the Jubilee Music Company at the last meeting would be Fairhope Avenue, from Section Street west to the Old Bay Steamer.
