HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-26-1987 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 3:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36332, on Monday. 26 October 1987. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 12 October 1987 regular session were duly approved. Councilman Shull moved for final adoption of Ordinance No. 801, an ordinance to annex property as requested by all t— operty owners in Meadowbrook Subdivision; by property owners Lowell D. Powell, George Stejskal, C. W. Grant, and W. C. Majors. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously. Mayor Nix advised that the annexation ordinance on the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation/W.C. Stewart property which was introduced at the last regular session, would be held over for final action at a later meeting as requested by the owners. Councilman Bishop introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously: Resolution No. 236-87 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE ALABAMA That BURLINGTON DRIVE, located in GABEL STATION, a Fairhope Single Tax Corporation Sub -Division located south of the Fairhope Middle School, is hereby accepted.for main- tenance by the City of Fairhope as per Section 19-2 of the Fairhope Code of Ordinances provided the following two con- ditions are satisfactorily met: 1. A two-year maintenance quarantee is presented; and 2. Acceptance is to be effective only after Gabel Station receives final plat approval from the Fairhope Planning and Zoning Commission. ADOPTED THIS 26th DAY OF OCTOBER, 1987. �p� 1 s P. Nix, Mayor 26 October 1987 -I . Council reviewed a Restaurant Liquor License application by Grover M. Johnson, dba GAMBINO'S, INC., located at 18 Laurel Street. No one present was opposed to the license. There was police approval. Councilman Ford moved for approval. .Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously. Council made the following Board appointments and reappointments: LIBRARY BOARD - Councilman White nominated Mr. Dean Post to complete the unexpired term of Per. Jack Cromwell (to April,1988). There being no other nominations, Councilman Shull moved to appoint Mr. Post. Seconded by Councilman Bishop, motion passed unanimously. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS $ APPEALS - Councilman Shull moved to reappoint Mr. Jim Merrihew to a 3-year term. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. AIRPORT BOARD - Councilwoman Puckett moved to reappoint Mr. Robert Colling and Mr. Russ Kilgore, each to a 2-year term. Seconded by Councilman White, motion passed unanimously. PARK $ TREE COMMITTEE - Councilman Ford moved to reappoint Dr. Howard Wulff to a 3-year term. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously. SCHOOL BOARD (ORGANIC) - Councilman Bishop moved to reappoint Mr. Sam Dyson to a 3-year term. Seconded by Councilman White, motion passed unanimously. MIDTOWN MEDICAL CLINIC BOARD - Councilman White moved to reappoint Mr. James Barrett to a 2-year term. Secon ded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously. MEDICAL CLINIC BOARD EAST - Councilman Ford moved to reappoint Mr. Charles Langham to a 4-year term and Mr. John T. Jones to a 6-year term. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Bishop moved to hear the following business not on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously: Councilman White moved to add Connie Murphy to the Police Reserve (Search & Rescue) roster for insurance purposes. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Shull gave a brief report on the Golf Course; greens are growing well, clubhouse is under construction, equipment has been bought, hope to open for play in the Spring. Asked people who visit to walk not drive over the greens and not to go out there and hunt the Quail. Meeting was duly adjourned at S:41 pm. �. Lity Clerk Mayor
