HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-21-1987 Special Meeting875 NOTICE AND CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING Notice is hereby given of a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, to be held at the Fairhope Municipal Complex, on Monday, 21 Sept 1987, at 5:30, pm, for the purpose of reviewing a resolution regarding the widening of Greeno Road by the State Highway Department. . Nix, mayor CONSENT TO HOLDING OF MEETING The undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, do hereby acknowledge service of the Notice and Call of Special Meeting hereinabove set forth and do hereby consent to the holding of such meeting at such time and in such place and for the purpose set forth therein. 876 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at 5:30, pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday, 21 September 1987. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent except City Attorney James Reid. The purpose of this meeting was to review the following resolution. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Councilman White introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Councilman Shull seconded. After discussion, resolution passed by unanimous vote: RESOLUTION NO. 232-87 BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Fairhope that we go on record as strongly supporting and endorsing the four-laning of US Hwy 98 from State Hwy 104 in Fairhope to Foley, Alabama, and ask that the first phase start on Hwy 104 and proceed south; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that two types of construction be con- sidered within the Fairhope city limits: first, that consideration be.given to a four -lane with a center median and stacking lanes at intersections; and, second, if the cost of this type construction would not be economically feasible or not practical from an engineering and right-of-way acquisition standpoint, we then recommend the five -lane urban type of construction; BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to Governor Guy Hunt, the Honorable Perry Hand, the Honorable Walter Penry, the Honorable Steve McMillan, and Mr. Royce G. King thanking them for their support of this project and asking them to expedite it due to the long-standing and tremendous need for this project. ADOPTED THIS 21st DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1987.
