COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session
at 5:30 o'clock, P.M., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council
Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Monday, 22 October 1984.
Present were Councilmembers Roy C. White, Trisha Nelson,
David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City
Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Mayor
James P. Nix was absent.
Mayor Pro Tempore David E. Bishop presided in the absence
of Mayor Nix. There being a quorum present, meeting was called
to order. Minutes of the 8 October 1984 regular session were
duly approved.
Councilman White moved for final adoption of Ordinance
No. 749, an ordinance to rezone Robertson property on Nichols
Avenue between Young & Mershon Streets from R2 Residential to
Bl Local Shopping. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion
passed unanimously.
Councilman Shull introduced an Ordinance to amend City
Code of Ordinances Section 8-31 (Cigarette Tax) to conform
to State Law #84-309 by placing tax on a millage-per-cigarette
basis.
An application for a Wine Off -Premises License by David C.
Stapleton, dba EZ PIC II on South Mobile Avenue, was reviewed.
There was police approval. No one present was opposed.
Councilwoman Nelson moved to approve the application. Seconded
by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Shull moved to observe Veterans Day this year
by declaring a holiday on Monday, November 12th. Seconded by
Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. The City
Council will meet as scheduled at 5:30 on the 12th.
Councilman White said there has been some vandalism in
town to the trees and plants which have been placed along
Fairhope Avenue and asked that the public please report any
misconduct they might see.
Councilman Shull introduced Mr. Khim Vira, the new owner of
Baron's Motel.
