STATE OF ALABAMA
COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at
7:00 o'clock, P.M., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber,
161 North -Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on
Monday, 1 October 1984.
This was the Organizational Meeting for the '84-'88 Term.
Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White,
Trisha Nelson, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L.
Shull; City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent.
Mayor Nix opened the meeting and introduced Dr. Emory B.
Green, Pastor of the Fairhope First Baptist Church, who gave the
Invocation.
Mayor Nix then introduced Circuit Judge Harry J. Wilters, Jr.,
28th Judicial Circuit of the State of Alabama, who administered
the Oath of Office to the reelected Council: Mayor Nix and Council -
members White, Nelson, Bishop, Ford, and Shull.
The Mayor and Council each briefly addressed the large
audience expressing appreciation for the community's support in
the past term and stating their dedication to a harmonious and
progressive new term. .'
Councilman Shull introduced an Ordinance to set time, place,
and rules of procedure for the new Council meetings.
Councilman Bishop moved to approve the following appointments
as Mayor Pro Tempore. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion
passed unanimously:

Gas, Water & Sewer - Nelson /
Electric, Library - Bishop
Recreation & Parks _ Shull
Finance & Audit Ford
Streets, Court, & Fire - White
Councilman White moved that all City Personnel continue

in their present positions until final appointments can be made.
Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously.
Meeting was duly adjourned. A delightful reception was
enjoyed by all in the Civic Center Lobby, sponsored by the Fairhope
BPW Club, following adjournment.
