HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-25-1984 Regular Meeting591 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 o'clock, P.M., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 35632, on Monday, 25 June 1984. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Trisha Nelson, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Absent was Councilman David E. Bishop. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 11 June 1984 regular session were duly approved. Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice -President John Nelson introduced the Fourth of July Committee Chairman Don McGriff who presented the program planned for the Fourth. Billed as the All -American Family Fun Day, there will be a parade at.10:00 to kick-off a day full of family fun right down to the grand finale Fireworks display after dark. Games, con- tests, beauty pageants, volley ball, speeches, music, and a shuttle bus promise something for everyone. The Council com- mended Mr. McGriff, his committee, and the Chamber for a well planned program. Councilman Shull introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously: RESOLUTION NO. 129-84 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, as follows: A. Election Officers for the 10 July 1984 Municipal Election, and the 31 July Run -Off Election if nec- essary, are hereby changed by the deletion of: Cecil Clemens 502 Horton Avenue Sarah K. Shepherd 375 So. Church Street and the substitution for same by the following: Mary Kingston, 725 Gayfer Avenue, Clerk at Large Margaret Gooden,116 Fairhope Ave, Asst Clerk, Mach.#3 B. Any other substitutions may be done by the Mayor and the City Clerk. C. Election Officers who serve shall be compensated in the amount of $40.20 for an approximate 12-hour period. ADOPTED THIS 25th DAY OF JUNE, 1984. Q 1�0• Q 25 June 1984 592 Councilman White introduced Ordinance No. 741, an ordinance establishing new Municipal Court Costs. In order to take immediate action, Councilwoman Nelson moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - Nelson, Ford, Shull, White, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilman White then moved for the final adoption of Ordinance No. 741. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - Nelson, Ford, Shull, White, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilman White introduced Ordinance No. 742, an ordinance establishing Municipal Court Costs for housing, maintenance, and medical costs. In order to take immediate action, Councilwoman Nelson moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - Nelson, Ford, Shull, White, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilman White then moved for final adoption of Ordinance No. 742. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - Nelson, Ford, Shull, White, and Nix. NAY - none. Mayor Nix advised that Baldwin United had sent a commendation to the Mayor and Council on the beautification program in Fairhope. Meeting was duly adjourned. ame P. Nix, Mayor City Cle k
