Nix,/Mayor CONSENT TO HOLDING OF MEETING The undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, do hereby acknowledge service of the Notice and Call -of Special Meeting hereinabove set forth and do hereby consent to the holding of such meeting at such time and in such place and for the purpose set forth therein. 543 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at 5:30 o'clock, P.M., Fairhope Municipal Complex, Council Chamber,.161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Wednesday, 25 January 1984. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Absent: Councilwoman Trisha Nelson. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss purchase of a garbage -hauling truck and Police salaries. General Supt. Rutherford explained to Council that the truck used to haul refuse to the Magnolia Springs landfill had finally gone down and had to have immediate, long-term, costly repairs. The truck stopped operating Friday and a search for a replacement, estimate on repairs, and discussion of whether to repair or replace had been ongoing since that time. The daily hauls to the landfill, of --course, were not being made and the situation is now critical. After some discussion, Councilman Bishop moved to declare an emergency and to authorize the purchase of a 1974 Inter- national Trans -Star diesel used truck from Bill Scott of Spanish Fort for $8500. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Ford introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following Resolution. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed by the following vote: AYE - Ford, Shull, Bishop, and Nix. NAY - none. ABSTAIN - White: RESOLUTION N0. 103-84 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE as follows: Annual Salary - By Grade - Effective on Pay Period Ending 2/17/84 Lieutenant $ 20,240.00 Sergeant I $ 19,500.00 Sergeant $ 19,000.00 Patrolmen I $ 18,500.00 Patrolman $ 18,000.00 Rookie Patrolman $ 15,870.75 25 January 1984 544 Res. No. 103-84 continued: (a) To reach Sergeant I and Patrolman I grade, candidate must have a P.E.I. Certificate and/or an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. (b) Rookies may reach Patrolman grade upon com- pletion of Mininm Standards School but not before completing six months service in the Fairhope Police Department.
