HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-25-1983 Regular Meeting492 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 o'clock, P.M., Fairhope Municipal Complex, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, 25 July 1983. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Michael A. Ford, and Sam E. Box; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Councilmembers Trisha Nelson and David E. Bishop were absent. (Note: All unanimous votes herein recorded indicate a vote by Mayor Nix and all three members present.) Minutes of the 11 July 1983 regular session were duly approved. Councilman Box moved to reject all bids opened at the prev- ious regular session on a tractor and a tractor with mower and to request bids on a used tractor with a terrain -king mower. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. Mayor Nix opened the floor for nominations to be considered by the State Department of Revenue in the selection of a County Board of Equalization. Councilman Box nominated Mr. Phil Porter Dyson. Councilman Ford nominated Mr. Robert Joe Potter. Council- man White nominated Mr. C. W. Coleman. There being no further nominations, Councilman White moved these three names be sub- mitted for consideration. Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed unanimously. Councilman White reported from the Planning & Zoning Board's recent public hearing on proposed changes to the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. White stated the Board, with 7 out of 9 members present, voted 4 to 3 not to recommend the addition of the change which would add a Height Limitation option open to the approval of the Board to Zones R-5, B-1, B-4, and M-1; and voted unanimously to recommend the change which would add limited discretionary duties forthe Zoning Enforcement Official in regard to yard sizes on odd -shaped lots. After some discussion, Councilman Ford moved to advertise a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to include both changes to the Zoning Ordinance. Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Box advised Council that the Sewer Pump Station on North Mobile Avenue dated back to about 1930 and that repairs were extremely costly due to obsolete parts having to be built to keep it in operation. Councilman Box moved to request bids on a package unit to replace this station. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. 25 July 1983 493 Councilman White moved to hear the following business not on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously: Councilman White moved to authorize bid advertisements on the paving and drainage improvements under the CDBG project. Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed unanimously. Meeting was duly adjourned.
