HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-23-1976 Regular MeetingISTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday August 23, 1976 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen: H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull, Councilman David E. Bishop being absent. tes of the previous regular and special meetings were approved. Councilman Barney L. Shull introduced the following Ordinance: ORDINANCE NO. 280 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE AND MAKING SALE OF $300,000 PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF GENERAL OBLIGATION RECREATION WARRANTS OF THE CITY TO BE DATED JULY 11, 1976. f Jason Kutack, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fairhope Public Library and Frances Black, Librarian, presented the Library budget for the Fiscal year 1976-77, with request for an increase from the City to $46,555.00. Councilman H. G. Bishop felt that until the Council received their annual audit no action could be taken. Mr. Don Brady of the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission reported to the Council that there would be a series of workshops on Waste Treatment Facilities and invited the council or represen- tatives to attend the meetings. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 22 at the Mobile Municipal Auditorium. Motion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the bill of Valta Construction Company in the amount of $1,496.00 for Site Construction at the new Stadium be approved for payment. 'iMotion carried. Mr. Burt Lacey, Director of Baldwin County Mental Health, reported on the procedure and costs of the facility- No action taken by the Council at this time. The following bids were received for Pick -Up Truck: Steber Chevrolet Co. $4300.00 Gaston Motor Company 4391.00 Motion by Councilman 011ie Deese'seconded by Councilman Sam Box that the City accept low bid of Steber Chevrolet provided bid meets specifications. Motion carried. Bids on Police car were as follows: Steber Chevrolet, Inc. was unable to bid at this time due to model change -over. Gaston Motor Company bid on two Police cars with one trade in for $10,300.00. Motion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Council, man 011ie Deese that all bids be rejected. Motion carried. Beach situation was again brought up for discussion. It was reported that the F. S. T. C. was agreeable to any decision the City made provided that all F. S. T. C. Lessees , in and out of the City Limits, be given free access to the area. It was recomm- ended that stickers be issued to residents in the City and F.S.T.0 lessees, with $1.00 per car and .25 per passenger.for others. No action taken at this time with recommendations that Council institute planning to be ready by January 1, 1977. There being no further business,on motion duly made the meeting was adjourned.
