COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met in
regular session at the City Administration Building, 387
Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama on Monday August 9, 1976,
at 7:00 P.M., with the following members present: Mayor James P.
Nix; Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H.G. Bishop, Sam E. Box,
011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman Sam E. Box, seconded by Barney L. Shull
that a beer permit be issued to the Milhams for the Square
Rigger Restaurant. After being put to vote the following
vote was recorded: Ayes: H.G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E.
Deese, Barney L. Shull. Nay: David E. Bishop. Motion carried.
Motion made by Barney L. Shull, seconded by 011ie E. Deese
that a beer and liquor permit be issued to The Point Clear
Tennis Club, Inc., in the name of Nan B. Arendall. After
being put to vote the following vote was recorded: Ayes:
H.G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese, Barney L. Shull.
Nay: David E. Bishop.
Motion by H.G. Bishop, seconded by David E. Bishop, that the
'City of Fairhope purchase a service contract on the NCR
Cash Register. Motion carried.
Motion made by Councilman Sam E. Box, seconded by Barney L. Shull
that the City Council meet in special session on Wednesday,
August 11, 1976, at 11:30 A.M.,to canvass the returns of the elec
t1on held August loth, 1976. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Sam E. Box, seconded by Barney L. Shull,
that the City go out for bid on a pick-up truck for the Street
Department. Motion carried.
Mayor James P. Nix read a letter by request from Mr. Bert Lacey,
of the Baldwin County Mental Health Association, requesting an
appropriation of $ 4,234.00. The request was held over for
further consideration.
Fire Chief Mack Yohn informed the Council of a possible refund
of $ 1,000.00 for the City if $,2,000.00 or more was spent for
fire equipment in the past year.
Motion by Councilman H.G. Bishop, seconded by Barney L. Shull
that the following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Alabama Legislature passed an Act creating
a " BOARD OF APPEALS " for Law Enforcement Officers, and
WHEREAS, Baldwin County Commission has appointed said
Board of Appeals,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Fairhope, Alabama, that the Law Enforcement Officers of
the.City of Fairhope be placed under the service of said Board
of Appeals.
ADOPTED THIS THE DAY OF AUGUST, 1976.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman H.G. Bishop, seconded by 011ie E. Deese,
that the bills be approved for payment. Motion carried.
It was duly moved, seconded, and carried that the meeting
adjourn, to meet on Wednesday, August 11, 1976 at 11:00 A.M.,
for the Bond Sale on the Recreation Program.
