HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-02-2024 Parking Authority MinutesCity of Fairhope Parking Authority Meeting Minutes Monday, December 2, 2024, 8:00 a.m. Fairhope Museum of History, 24 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 Members in Attendance: Bryan Flowers, Chad Bartz, Mandy Bezeredi, and Morgan Slay. Staff present: Chief Stephanie Hollinghead Guests: Gary Gover Bryan Flowers called the meeting to order at 8:04 am. Chad Bartz made a motion to approve the meeting minutes of October 28, 2024. Seconded by Mandy Bezeredi, the motion passed unanimously. Chad Bartz updated the committee on the marketing campaign strategies. He is working with Paige Crawford on the number of shuttle pickup stops and location of those pickup points. Chad Bartz inquired about the timeline on wrapping the shuttle to match that of the Arts Alley Parking. Bryan Flowers and Morgan Slay further discussed that the Arts Alley Parking is still underutilized. Morgan Slay suggested coming up with another solution to market the parking area. Bryan Flowers suggested having 3 designated pickup points for the shuttle. Morgan Slay suggested focusing on the parking lots for pickup points. Mandy Bezeredi seconded that recommendation. Bryan Flowers recommended 3 stops at the following locations: Civic Center, Arts Alley and the parking lot at the kid’s park. Chad Bartz is going to discuss with Paige Crawford about the shuttle drivers keeping a log of the utilization of the shuttle. Bryan Flowers recommends concentrating on the CBD first before focusing on anything outside of that. Chad Bartz and Bryan Flowers met with the owner of the Hampton Inn previously. There is no enforcement for having Hampton Inn guest to use the designated parking spots. Chad Bartz suggests the committee revisit this discussion after Arts and Crafts. Chad Bartz will go to the Grand Hotel and communicate with them to promote the Arts Alley to their guests by giving out the Arts Alley post card to help push guests to park in the Arts Alley Parking area. Bryan Flowers and Chad Bartz discussed the other initiative of meeting with the merchants to pass out Arts Alley parking cards. Mandy Bezeredi provided a map splitting up sections for each committee member to contact the merchants, to discuss goals and to hand out these cards to give their customers. Chad Bartz recommended everyone be assigned a zone. He also recommended when talking to the merchants about the initiatives, also discuss the issue with merchants and employees parking on the streets. Bryan Flowers is going to contact Josh Turner about his place on the committee and whether he wants to continue or step down. Morgan Slay spoke to George Ladd about the perspective of the one-way streets. The 2025 budget does not reflect any funds for future streets. George Ladd indicated there is continued discussion within the city for future one-way streets. Bryan Flowers requested recommendations for 2025 initiatives. Chief Hollinghead suggested looking at compact parking in certain areas. Mandy Bezeredi suggested we do another survey this summer to see if the use of the Arts Alley parking has increased. Bryan Flowers suggested we look at a city valet parking service during events, on certain days and times. Bryan Flowers set the next meeting for January 6, 2025, at 8:00 am at the Museum. Chard Bartz a motion to adjourn the meeting at 0916. Mandy Bezeredi seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
