HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-24-1976 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, met in regular session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Monday, May 24, 1976 at 7:00 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor James p. Nix, Councilmen: David E. Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L. Shull. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Barney Shull seconded by Councilman H. G. Bishop that Ordinance No. 576, An Ordinance Amending Zoning Ordinance No. 557, be adopted as introduced at the regular meeting of May 10, 1976. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman David E. Bishop that the request for a Beer Permit at the "Pink Panther" be denied as recommended by the Chief of Police. Motion carried. Councilman H. G. Bishop reported that he had checked into the collection of utility bills thru the banks and found that it would cost considerable money and probably necessitate the hiring of another employee to handle the matter, therefore, he did not think it feasible at this time. Mr. Kirk reported that since the resurfacing of the parking areas on Section Street, which was authorized at a previous meeting, wou: have to be done by hand that the City crews would do the work. Mayor and Council set the official qualifying date for City election for June 15, 1976. Final date for qualifying is July 6, 1976 at 5:00 P.M. and election day is August 10, 1976. A certified letter to the Council pertaining to the dog situation was referred to the Chief of Police. Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman Sam Box that anyone requesting information should submit the request in writing to the City Clerk who in turn would reply in writing as soon as the information is available. This is in no way meant to restrict the flow of information to anyone and would include information that could be misunderstood where the City would be liable. City book are still open to the public for their inspection and information during regular working hours. After a general discussion by the Council and guests and misinterpretation of the motion, Councilman H. G. Bishop withdrew his motion, Counci: man Sam Box withdrew his second to the motion. There being no further business the meeting adjourned on motion duly made, seconded and carried. Alabama :to hereby petition the Fairhope Planning & Zoning Commission to change the name of said Wilfred Street to be known as Spring Drive. %1/1. 1�1- R.
