COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular
session at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope
Avenue, Monday, January 26, 1976 at 7:00 P.M. with the follow-
ing members present: Mayor James P. Nix, Councilmen David E.
Bishop, H. G. Bishop, Sam E. Box, 011ie E. Deese and Barney L.
Shull.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved.
Motion by Councilman H. G. Bishop seconded by Councilman
Barney Shull that City approve beer and liquor license for
businesses now operating under State and County license in the
new Police Jurisdiction of theCity. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Sam Box seconded by Councilman Barney
L. Shull that Mr. William Richmond be appointed to the Organic
School Board. Motion carried.
Mayor Nix reported on meeting with Federal Insurance Adminis-
tration of Flood Control Insurance. Flood prone areas have been
designated in the City and map is to be published showing
these areas. After publication, the City has 60 days to protest
any of these areas after which the map will be finally adopted.
The City then has 6 months to adopt Ordinance adopting the flood
zone map and rules for complying with same.
Councilman H. G. Bishop introduced the following Ordinance:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE,
ALABAMA, as follows:
SECTION 1. That, for the term beginning the first Monday
in October, 1976, the Mayor of the City of Fairhope, Alabama,
shall receive for performance of his duties as mayor an annual
salary of $3600.00, payable in equal installments out of the
City Treasury.
SECTION 2. That, for the term beginning the first Monday
in October, 1976, each member of the City Council of the City
of Fairhope, Alabama, shall receive an annual salary of $1200.00
payable in monthly installments out of the City Treasury.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS -DAY OF 1976.

Councilman Barney Shull reported that bids on Stadium and
Lights at the Little League Field would be opened at the next
regular meeting of the City Council on February 9, 1976.
Mayor Nix reported that there will be a meeting of the
Ethics Committee on February 5 & 6 at the South Alabama Medical
Building at 7:00 P.M. to answer any questions on new Alabama
Ethics Law which affects Mayor, Council and others having control
of City funds. No Board members of cities under 15,000
population will be affected by this law.
Validating machine and increasing cost of service calls out
side the City Limits was discussed but no action taken at this
time.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
