COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall Tuesday, June 23, 1970 at 7:30 P.M., with the
following members present: mayor R. C. Macon, Councilmen James
P. Nix, H. G. Bishop, John A. Robertson and Sam E. Box. Council-
man Robert H. Cowen being absent.
Minutes of previous regular meeting were approved.
A group of citizens with Mike Ponder as spokesman, met with Coun-
cil pertaining to tennis courts. Coach Majors presented estimates
on building new courts. Council authorized Mr. Ponder to get esti-
mates on repairing present courts at the school and on St. James
Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Obermeyer met with Council protesting the
proposed paving of Azalea Street.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Bishop that
Ordinance No. 445, An Ordinance Modifying Amending and -'Confirming,,
As So, -Modified And A?mended, Improvement Ordinance No. 439, In-
troduc,ed At The Regular Meeting of May 26, 1970, be adopted as
introduced. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Robertson that
Ordinance No. 443, An Ordinance Amending Zoning Ordinance No. 295
Section 13, District Boundaries by rezoning from R-1 and R-2 to R-3
property of Roy White on West side of Church Street, be adopted as
introduced. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that
M. C. Williams Contracting Company be authorized to proceed with
resurfacing of South Church Street from Station 12+40 (Tie-in, South
side of Fairhope Avenue) at a cost of $2,310.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Box that City
accept proposal of Harry Creamer for repairing street from Post
Office to Morphy, cutting out 6 ft., wide from gutter, filling,
packing and black topping at a cost of $650.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Nix that trans-
fer of $10,000.00 from Gas Gross Revenue to General Fund be authorized.
Motion carried.
Councilman Robertson introduced the following Ordinance:

GRADE ORDINANCE NO. A
AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE GRADE"OF A PORTION
OF BON SECOUR AVENUE.
Be It Ordained by the City Council as follows:
Section 1. That the grade of Bon Secour Avenue from easterly
projection of the south edge of existing pavement on Rosa Avenue
to the south edge of existing pavement on Volanta Avenue, 990
linear feet, more or less.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be published in the Fair -
hope Courier a newspaper published in the City of Fairhope, Ala.

The following bids were received on creosote poles as per City's
specifications
Gulfport Creosoting Co. $1,574.05
American Creosote Wks. Inc. $1,872.93
BaldwinPole and Piling Co. $1,686.81
Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Robertson that
City accept low bid of Gulfport Creosoting Co., in amount of
$1,574.05. motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that
City proceed with survey, engineering and cost estimate for under-
groundo:�drainage on Church Street from magnolia to Oak. motion
carried.
Motion by Councilman Nix seconded by Councilman Box that City in-
stall lights at Young Street Ball Park at a cost of $950.00. motion
carried.
The following quotations were received:
2800' - 4" cast iron sewer pipe as per specifications.

L599' - 6" Cast iron pipe as per specifications:

Wholesale Supply Co. $1.91 Ft.
Motion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Bishop that City
purchase pipe from American Cast Iron Pipe Co. motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Bishop seconded by Councilman Box that Jack
Kirk be authorized to purchase air conditioner for main office at
the City Hall. motion carried.
Upon motion, seconded and passed, meeting adjourned.
