STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular sessi at the City Hall, Tuesday, March 24, 1970 at 7:30 P.M. with the follow&kg members present: Mayor R.^ C. Macon, Councilmen: James P. Nix, Hobert H. Cowen, Henry G. Bishop, John A. Robertson and Sam E.• Box. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.. Motion by Councilman Bishop that the following Ordinance be introduced: ORDINANCE AMENDING SCHEDULE 136 OF ORDINANCE NO' 2219 PROVIDING GENERAL, LICENSES IN THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE AND TO AMEND SCHEDULE 31 OF ORDINANCE 2219 AS LAST AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 242. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CIT2 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE as follows: Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of accepting orders, contracts or subcontracts or erecting, en- larging, improving or relocating any building or structure, inclu ing taking any contracts for masonry, electrical, plumbing, heat- ing, air conditioning, roofing, siding, walling, tiling, hand power, painting, paper hanging, floor sanding or finishing, soft tile, carpeting, landsca i +� p ng, sheet metal, iron work, glass sett- ing and glazing, including those taking contracts for grading, Paving installations of curbs, alleys, gutters and sewers shall pay a license to the CITY OF FAIRHOPE, in accordance with the following Schedule, namely: Each contractor or subcontractor who takes a contract for: 11.00 and not over $19200.'00 25.00 19200.'00 and not over 6,000.00 50.00 69000.'00 and not over 12,000.00 75.-00 129,000.'00 and not over. $20, 000.00 1501,00 All contracts over $20,000.00 200.00 This onatnMet is to become effective upon p publication. Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Bishop that the following Grade Ordinance be adopted: GRADE ORDINANCE N0. 433 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE GRADE OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF MAPLE AVENUE, LIVE OAK STREET, MARCA LANE, MYRTLE AVENUE, HOLLY DRIVE AND OLIVE DRIVE. BE IT HBDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, BAMA as follows: SECTION 1 - That the grade of Maple Avenue, Live Oak Street, Marca Lane, Ygrtle Avenue, Holly Drive and Olive Drive, be, and the same are hereby fixed and established as shown on the plans heretofore exhibited to the City Council and now on file and open for inspection in the office of the City Clerk. SECTION 2 - That this Ordinance shall be published in The Fa Courier, a newspaper published and of general circulation in the City of Fairhope, Alabama., Adopted this the = ay of , 1970•4 Attest: R. . Macon, Mayor Marie Moore - City Clerk Councilman Robertson moved that all rules governing the Council which might, unless suspended, prevent the passage and adoption of the Ordinance at this meeting, be and the same are hereby suspended for the purpose of permitting the said Ordinance to be (finally passed and adopted at this meeting.' Councilm;an Nix seconded the motion. The question was put before the Council and on roll call the vote was as follows; Yea: Mayor Macon, Councilmen Nix, Cowen, Bishop, Robertson and Box. Nays: None.' Motion adopted by unanimous vote of members present.! Councilman Robertson moved that said Grade Ordinance No.� 433 be finally passed and adopted as introduced. Councilman Nix seconded the motion,' The Mayor put the question of final passage and adoption of said Ordinance to vote of the Council, and on roll call the results were as follows; Yea; Mayor Macon, Councilmen; Nix, Cowen, Bishop, Robertson and Bo Ordinance No. 433 finally passed and adopted., Notion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Nix that City ask for bids on cleaning lot on Prospect Street and assess cost of cleaning to property owner. Motion carried., Motion by Councilman Robertson seconded by Councilman Box that City place 1/2 page colored ad in the Arts and Craft brochure Motion carried. Notion by Councilman Box seconded by Councilman Cowen that the City ask for bids on pick-up truck for meter readers. Bids to be opened on Saturday, March 289 1970 at 800 A.M. at the City Hall. Notion carried. Motion by Councilman Cowen seconded by Councilman Box that the City purchase 1-Federal. Twin -Hay Beacon Light Visibar, Model 11, 1 CP-25 Federal Chrome Speaker and 1 PAr15A Electronic Siren Federal. Complete with mike, 12 Voltvi at a cost of $280.00.' Motion carried.4 Motion by Councilman Box that the following Ordinance be introduced; ORDINANCE NO. � 3 �Z- BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, THAT, WHEREAS the following described leasehold and improve- ments thereon are not needed for public or municipal purposes, to -wit: The South 6 feet of Lot 19 except the West 10 feet thereof; All of Lot 29 except the West 10 feet thereof; All of Lot 9, except the South 7 feet of the East 99 feet thereof; and the South 6 feet of the West 18 feet of Lots 12; All in Block 5 of Division 4 of the Lands of the Fairhope Single Tax Sorporation, accodding to Plat thereof dated August 4,, 19119 filed for record 1913. and recorded in Miscellaneous Book 11 at Pages 320-321, Probate Records, Baldwin County, Alabama. which is the property adjoining and north of the present City Hall and That the City of Fairhope be authorized to enter into a contract with the FAIRHOPE BUILDING CORPORATION, as shown by copy thereof, attached hereto, and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute said contract and conveyance for angon behalf of the CITY OF FAIRHOPE.
