LUP –went before planning commission and it passed.Goes to council for adoption soon Greenspace (Ben)–no update Greenspace mgmt.(Justin)–planted 300+native plants in Knoll Park;burning to commence this Jan/Feb.Not much happening with Colony Park –Justin spoke to Nancy re:butterfly pavilion.No update re:Winn Dixie pond.Pedestrian tunnel is close to done on Veterans Drive but Drive is open. -Ben asked about if baseline plant inventory was done ahead of implements;Justin is going to follow up SWaMP (Sarah B.)–Letter drafted outlining general plan (with community and business involvement);they are waiting for CoF response/questions.Sarah rolled out Fairhope composting method at recent event and plans to do same at HS.She is also working with FHS engineering group to build a worm bin prototype to use to go after grant funding to mass produce (with upgrades,as learned through prototyping process).Gary suggests approaching solid waste to mock up and demonstrate;Sarah to follow up with them.Another SWaMP subcommittee meeting at FHS @ 3 p. Energy Policy (Anna)–RFP for energy efficient retrofit grant announced (ADECA?); contact Anna for more details Water Conservation (Nigel)–Two relevant opportunities were discussed. 1.Invitation to participate in Auburn/USA EPA proposal to create low-cost water quality monitoring network throughout coastal Alabama.CoF would participate as project partner and would receive at least one low-cost water quality monitoring station (site TBD). 2.Smart City Solutions using Edgelake platform.This a development platform that,when paired with low-cost sensors (e.g.,as described in point 1),could provide the foundation for real-time monitoring of nearly any city-maintained infrastructure which could allow more efficient city operations,using fewer man hours.An example of the power and utility of this platform was provided ahead of this meeting (city of Sabetha,KS)and discussed briefly. Pier signs –Feef met to find funding,USA donated $5k.Plan is to link features with another pier at DISL.Money to be available 1st Feb 2025 Meeting adjourned 4:03 pm
