Regularly scheduled Meeting on Monday, October 21, 2024
Giddens Conference Room
Called to Order at 4:05 by Board Chair Anne Johnson
ATTENDANCE: Anne Johnson, Debra Langham, Dan Stankoski, Randal Wright, Andy Parvin, and Tamara Dean.
MINUTES: Minutes from the regularly scheduled September 23rdmeeting were unanimously approved.
REPORTS: Monthly Statisticals were reviewedthe excellent end-of-year (based on the fiscal year that ends in September) numbers were discussed.Employee Report: Tamara reported that the
library will need to search for a new person for reference due to an employee resignation.Financial Statement was reviewed, and no questions or comments were specified. A motion was
made to accept the three reports, seconded and passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS: 1) The new policies that require parents to select the level of books their child(ren) will be allowed to checkout and then sign a waiver verifying their choice will go
into effect on October 22. This will involve about 2,000 children between ages 5 to 17 who already have library cards. The policy changes have been advertised in the library, on the
website, and Facebook.
NEW BUSINESS: 1)The Board discussed the new meeting room policy; “Fairhope Public Library will not accept reservations for the meeting rooms if the program in any way duplicates or
competes with the library’s Youth Services’ programming.” After a brief review and discussion, the new policy was unanimously passed. 2) The Library Budget for 2024-2025 was presented
by Director Dean. She explained how she was able to adjust the proposed budget after the city refused to accept her proposed budget. The library’s beginning salary has increased to
$15.45 an hour. The current deferred revenue will be used to help with some of the budget expenses not covered by the money allocated by the city. The budge was unanimously approved
by the Board
