HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-26-1967 Regular MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, September 26, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. with the following members presnet: Mayor Macon, Councilmen: Spader, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Councilman Reynolds being absent. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Gaston that Ordinance No.' 3859 An Ordinance Granting Franchise to Tarascan, Inc. For Television -Distribution System, introduced at the regular meeting of September_11, 1967 be adoapted-as introduced. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that the Resolution Determining All Objections and Defenses to Assessments For The Cost Of Improvements Provided by Improvement Ordinance No. 358 AndAssessingThe Cost Of Said Improvements Upon The Property Specially Benefited Thereby, As Amended by Ordinance No. 364 and introduced at the regular meeting of September 11, 1967 be adopted as introduced. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stipes that final bill of Bouler Contracting Company be approved for payment less any outstanding claims. Motion carried. Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Spader that final bill of Linden Construction Company in the amount of 069797.70 for Bathhouse facilities at the Swimming Pool be approv- ed for payment. Motion carried., The following bids were received for clearing lots in the City: 152 Gaston Avenue: Harry Creamer 0 30.00 Eugene Bosby _ 25.00 415 So. Section Street: Harry Creamer 225.,00 Eugene Bosby 17.5.-00 N/W Corner of Liberty and Pecan: Harry Creamer 425.00 Eugene Bosby 150.00 St., John property on No.' Church Street: Eugene Bosby 200.00 Cross property on Prospect Street: Eugene Bosby 400.�00 Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Spader that the City accept low bid of Eugene Bosby on clearing lots and that owners of said property be assessed for clearing and costs. These lots are to be cleared because of snakes, rate and insects and above action is in accordance with City Ordinance. Motion carried." y"' Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that the City take full page Ad in color in the Baldwin County Visitor. Notion carried. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Gaston that the following Ordinance be introduced: ORDINANCE NO. J86 AN ORDINANCE NAMING ASHLEY DRIVE AND PATLYNN DRIVE IN FAIRHOPE, ALBAMA AND REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES THAT MAY BE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH . . _ _ BE IT ORDAINED by the -City Council of the City of Fairhope, Ala that the street from Fairwood Blvd. N. E. past Gayfer Street be named Patlynn Drive and the street from Patlynn Drive South -to Fairwood Blvd._be named Ashley Drive, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any Code Section under the Municipal Code of Fairhope, Alabama, or Ordinances that may conflici-here- with be, and the same are hereby repealed. Adopted this the 26th dap of September, 1967, Approved Attest: Mayor City er Motion by Councilman Gaston seconded by Councilman Stine that all rules governing the Council, which might, unless suspended, preve. the passage and adoption of the Ordinance at this meeting, be and the same are hereby suspended for the purpose of permitting the said Ordinance to be finally passed and adopted at this meeting. On roll call the vote was as followst Yea: Councilmen: Spader, 91pes, Gaston and Stine. Nay: None. Councilman Reynolds absent. The Mayor declared the motion adopted by unanimous vote of the members present. Councilman Gaston moved that Ordinance No. 386 be finally passed and adopted as introduced, Councilman Stine seconded the motion., The Mayor put the question of final passage and adoption of the said Ordinance to vote of the Council, and on roll call the results were as follows: Yea: Councilmen: Spader, Stipes, Gaston and Stine. Nay: None,, Councilman Reynolds absent. The Mayor declared the Ordinance finally passed and adopted. Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Gaston that th e City Superintendent be authorized to hire three employees for the 4treet department at a starting salary of $1:40 per hour.
