COUNTY OF BALDWIN
The City Council of the City of Fairhope met in regular session
at the City Hall, Monday, August.14, 1967 with the following mem-
bers present:
Councilman Spader, Stipes, Reynolds and Stine: Absent: Mayor
R. C.`Macon, Councilman Gaston and Executive Assistant Niemeyer.
R. Roy Reynolds, Mayor Pro-tem presided in the absence of the
Mayor.
Minutes of previous regular meeting were approved on motion by
Councilman Stipes,'seconded by Councilman Stine and carried.
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman Stine that the
City provide dirt and labor up to $19000:00 to make suitable site
for "T" hangers at the Municipal Airport._ Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by.Councilman Stine that
City Attorney send copy of Riviera Contract, which has expired,
to Attorney General requesting an opinion as to legality of
running new Electric Lines within City Limits where Riviera now
has electric lines.' Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Stipes that Or-
dinance #381, An Ordinance requiring any physician, hospital,
clinic, nuvi.ng home or other place where medical aid is rendered,
being called upon -to treat a case of gunshot wound, knife wound,
fight wound or any other type of wound, whether self-inflicted
or otherwise caused by violence, or to whose knowledge the ex-
istance of such a case comes, shall.immediately report the same
to the Chief of Police of Fairhope, Alabama; introduced at the
regular meeting of July 24, 1967 be adopted as introduced. Motion
carried.'
Motion by Councilman Spader,'seconded by Councilman Stine that
the following Ordinance be introduced as Ordinance No. 382.

Motion carried;,
Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that the
City Clerk be authorized to cash $50,000.00 Electric Savings Cer-
tificates and transfer to General Fund. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Stipes that
City furnish power to operate the swimming pool. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Stine seconded by Councilman Spader that
upon completion of bathhouse facilities the City turn over to
the Recreation Board operation of the Swimming pool. Motion carriei

application for building permit of Mr. Malone for addition to Price
Furniture Coot be approved: Motion carried:
Motion by Councilman Spader seconded by Councilman 2pads: Stipes
that the following Ordinance be introduced as Ordinance No. 383:
AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A REGION FOR
ADVISORY PLANNING PURPOSES AND TO CON-
STRUCT, CREATE AND ESTABLISH A REGIONAL
PLANNING COMMISSION.

BE IT ORDMED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA
AS FOLLOWS:
Secion 1:' The words and terms "Governmental Unit"s "Governmental
Body", "municipalitys, "Region'!, "Advisory Planning" and "Com-
prehensive A dvisory.Planning" where used in this Ordanance shall
have the menaing assigned to.said words or terms by the provisions
of Section 1 of Act No. 584 of the 1963 Legislature of the State o
Alabama approved by the Governor of the State of Alabama on Sep-
tember 16, 1963.
Section 2. Pursuant to the authority contained in Act No. 584 of
the 1963 Legislature of the State of Alabama epproved by the Governs
of the State of Alabama on September 16, 1963, there is hereby
created and established a region for advisory planning purposes
which said region shall include all the geographical area container
within the aggregate territorial limits of all Governmental Units,
the Governing Bodies of which shall adopt an Ordinance substantial:
similar to this Ordinance, and which region shall be joined with
and be a part of the planning region of the mobile County Regional
Planning Commission.
Section 3.` Pursuant to the authority contained in said Act No.
584 there is hereby created and established a Regional Planning
Commission, the members of which shall be as provided by said Act
No. 584 and whose members shall be appointed for the terms and in
the manner prescribed by said act, which planning Commission shall
be joined with and be a part of the mobile County Regional Plannini
Commission, which shall henceforth be called the South Alabama
Regional Planning Commission.
Section 4" The Regional Planning Commission herein created and
established is hereby authorized and empowered to exercise all
powers and to do all things authorized by the provisions of said
Act No. 584:
Section 5. That this Ordiance shall have full force and effect
upon its approval as required by law.

four lane of Section Street and Fairhope Avenue in accordance with
State Highway Department specifications* motion carried:

It is understood and agreed by this applicant that any error, misstatement or misrepresentation of material fact or expression of material fact, either with
or without intention on the part of this applicant, such as might, or would, operate to cause a refusal of this application, or any material alteration or change

Motion by Councilman Stipes seconded by Councilman Stine that bill
of Linden Construction Company in the amount of $11,085.30 be ap-
proved for payment. motion carried.

request of Syiperior Hardware, Inc:, to install Spur Gas Station sigi
Ilon the corner of Section and magnolia be granted with the stipula-
tion that sign will be moved at their expense upon request by the
City.` motion carried.

WHEREAS, WALTER H. ROBERTS a long and valued
citizen of Fairhope, Alabama, and
WHEREAS, WALTER H. ROBERTS has been instrumental, through
his interest and supervision,,in making the park located bounded
by Morphy,' Liberty and George Streets,, a place of beauty, and -
The Mayor and Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama is
desirous of recognizing his efforts;
NOW, THEREFOREP BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Fiir-
hope, Alabama that the City Park bounded by Norphy, Liberty af4d
George Streets be, and it -is hereby named the WALTER H. ROOTS
PARK.
